What is POW-R Wrap?
POW-R Wrap is a brand of water-activated fibreglass tape designed specifically for repairing pipework that supports fluids, although it’s the repair material of choice for nearly every type of pipe and hose.
It can support up to 300 PSI in pressurized lines by maintaining a pure vacuum seal around the damaged section of piping. Additionally, POW-R Wrap can withstand temperatures of -50°C and up to 426.667°C, making it a fantastic material to use in repairs of natural gas pipes, for example.
How does it work?
POW-R Wrap is water-activated, and works much like the favoured sculpting material Mod Roc.
The tape is immersed in water, before being wrapped around the damaged section of pipework or hose. Whoever is applying the tape then molds it tightly around the damaged section, holding it in place for a minimum of 4 minutes.
This causes the POW-R Wrap tape to harden, effectively vacuum-sealing the damaged section of pipework.
Why choose POW-R Wrap over a traditional repair method?
Traditional pipe repair methods such as soldering, cementing, welding, and sleeving can be effective, but they have inherent limitations. POW-R Wrap adheres to wet, dry, clean, dirty and even corroded surfaces, and can be used underwater, too.

POW-R Wrap is E.P.A approved – meaning it contains no harmful solvents – and offers chemical resistance to diesel fuel, petroleum products, halocarbons, and other curing alcohols.

When making a repair, you need to know your materials aren’t going to fail you at another point in time. POW-R Wrap is unique in that it not only seals leaks in pipework, but it also strengthens the surrounding section of pipe, meaning the chances of needing to re-repair the same area is greatly reduced.
Although POW-R Wrap may not suffice as a permanent repair option for larger, commercial applications, it can certainly act as a temporary repair as the maintenance team work to fit a larger replacement or repair job into their schedule. However, in most cases, POW-R Wrap can be considered a permanent fix, especially in smaller industry applications, or home uses.
