Movember Update: A Huge Thank You!
14th December, 2023
An update on our Movember fundraiser. All funds raised will go towards the Movember Foundation, supporting several men’s health initiatives around the globe.
A huge thank you to everyone who donated to our Movember fundraiser. We raised over £940 with some cash donations still to come in. All funds raised will go towards the Movember Foundation, supporting a number of men’s health initiatives around the globe.
The Movember Foundation, the organization behind this movement, encourages men to grow moustaches throughout November to spark conversations and raise funds for men’s health initiatives. Participants, often called “Mo Bros,” register on the Movember website, start the month clean-shaven, and then grow and groom their moustaches over the 30 days, using their facial hair as a catalyst to bring attention to men’s health concerns.
Besides moustache-growing, Movember also supports various events and activities that aim to generate awareness, raise funds, and support research and programs addressing men’s health issues worldwide. It’s an initiative that emphasizes the importance of regular check-ups, early detection, and overall well-being for men.
Mental Health and Suicide Prevention
One of the core areas of Movember is men’s mental health. Throughout November, we hoped to encourage conversations and openness around mental health to encourage anyone struggling to seek support. Men across the world are encouraged to check in with each other this Movember. Simply starting the conversation and listening can be all it takes.
Testicular Cancer
Testicular cancer is the #1 cancer in young men. If caught early, testicular cancer is highly treatable. Knowing the signs and symptoms of testicular cancer can help with early detection and increase the chances of full recovery.
Prostate Cancer
Each year, more than 1.4 million men are diagnosed with prostate cancer. Awareness around early detection and the signs and symptoms still have a long way to go. During Movember, men are encouraged to become aware of the signs and symptoms of prostate cancer and attend their regular check-ups.
