Styrene Butadiene Rubber
Styrene-Butadiene Rubber (SBR or Styrene-butadiene) is a synthetic rubber comprising of styrene and butadiene monomers. It is amongst the most commonly used rubbers, particularly popular in the automotive industry as an abrasion-resistant replacement for natural rubber. Because SBR’s properties are so similar to natural rubbers, it can replace natural rubber in many products.
Styrene-Butadiene rubber offers a raft of benefits, including excellent abrasion resistance and good bonding properties.
SBR rubber is well-known for its excellent abrasion resistance, crack endurance, and ageing properties. It also has a high compression set, is resistant to water, and has good bonding and heat-ageing properties.
Benefits of Styrene-Butadiene Rubber include:
- Resistant to chemicals, solvents
- Resistant to extreme heat
- Easily and effectively bonded to an assortment of materials
